German tennis star Angelique Kerber has announced that she will retire from the sport after the 2024 season. Kerber, a three-time Grand Slam champion and Olympic silver medalist, has enjoyed a successful career spanning nearly two decades.
In a statement released on her social media accounts, Kerber expressed gratitude for the opportunities tennis has provided her. She also highlighted her decision to prioritize her family and pursue other interests.
Kerber's accomplishments on the court are numerous. She won the Australian Open in 2016 and 2017, the US Open in 2016, and Wimbledon in 2018. She also reached the final of the French Open in 2016 and 2018.
In addition to her Grand Slam titles, Kerber has won 12 WTA Tour titles, including the prestigious Indian Wells Masters in 2016 and 2019. She has also represented Germany in the Fed Cup and the Olympic Games, winning a silver medal in Rio de Janeiro in 2016.
